Haley Egelhoff is a student in the Designer I Phase at the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school in Overland Park, Kansas, where she is provided continuing instruction in professionalism and communication, haircutting techniques, chemical hair services, hair design, skin, and nail care services. Continuing her education in the classroom, she has also transitioned to the studio floor and performs client consultations, making decisions based on client expectations and building skills in personal relations with co-workers and the public. After graduation, Haley hopes to work in a top salon in Kansas or Florida while expanding her skills and building her career. Get to know Haley through the quick interview below!

In Her Words

Why did you choose to attend Z Hair Academy?

When choosing a school to attend, I was looking for that special “feeling” of just knowing this was the right place for me. I had already looked at multiple different schools, and nothing felt right. I then gave it one last chance and went to tour the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school in Overland Park, and as soon as I walked in, it was like a breath of fresh air. Everyone was so friendly and did great work. I fell in love with how bright and positive the environment was, so I just knew it was the right fit for me.
What is your favorite service?

My favorite services are globals or foils because clients almost always have a new look to them after I finish their hair. I enjoy seeing how much they love the new change; it makes me love what I do. I also appreciate that you can put as much effort as you want into them, and they always turn out differently.
What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending my spare time with family and friends, which sometimes involves doing fun things within my career. I really enjoy going to the gym and taking my dog to the dog park—pretty much anything to stay active and busy.
What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about traveling and learning what it’s like to live in other countries and cities. I love to try new foods and go to new places. There are so many things to see in the world that when I have the opportunity, I take it.
What is your favorite hair product?

Moroccan oil is one of my favorite hair products. When I use this product, my hair doesn’t feel like my real hair. The oil makes it so soft and healthy, and it also smells amazing. This product is definitely a necessity in everyone’s daily routine!
What will people be surprised to know?

People will be surprised to know that I am an only child. I feel that people with no siblings get a reputation for being closed off or anti-social, but being an only child has forced me to make lots of friends and be more outgoing because I didn’t have siblings my own age to spend time with.
How would your high school friends describe you?

In high school, my friends would have described me as ambitious, outgoing, very friendly, and always smiling. I am the type of person that wanted to be friends with everyone, no matter who you were. I really enjoy bringing people out of their shells and putting a smile on their faces, and I love to try new things anytime, anywhere.
