Academy News | Cosmetology School Lawrence Beyond the Chair With Scout

Scout Nichols is a student in the Designer II Phase at the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school in Lawrence, Kansas, where she is provided direction with developing a resume, practicing interview skills, and reviewing techniques for building a business. After graduation, Scout will be providing clients with facials, waxing and nail services, and hairstyling services at Lada Salon & Spa. She will also travel to nursing homes to perform perms, haircuts, and makeup services for the elderly. Get to know Scout through the quick interview below!

In Her Words

Why did you choose to attend Z Hair Academy?

I chose to attend the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school in Lawrence because I could tell it was a positive environment. During the tour, everyone was so nice and welcoming that I was eager to start right away!
What is your favorite service?

My favorite services to perform on clients are hairstyling services and facials. Styling helps show clients how much a small change can make such a huge difference, and everyone loves a relaxing facial massage. You can never go wrong, whether getting one or giving one.
What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to shop, fish, spend time with my family, and clean!
What are you passionate about?

Fashion! I love creating affordable outfits on a budget and having a fashion blog where I share all of my fashion and beauty tips.
What is your favorite hair product?

My favorite hair product is the Joico Beach Shake Texturizing Finisher. I spray it on my loose waves to give them that effortlessly textured look.
What will people be surprised to know?

People will be surprised to know that I can hunt and fish! I’ve been going deer hunting since I was five years old. It’s a special thing that my dad and I get to do together, and I drop a deer every year with my crossbow. I also go fishing every summer with my boyfriend and love catching some good bass at Table Rock Lake.
Would you like to share something fun about your past?

I have always loved hair and beauty but never had any plans of going into the industry. I went to Johnson County Community College for website development, where I quickly realized that was not the path for me. My mom encouraged me to tour the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school, and I quickly fell in love with it!
