If you frequent social media, you know that the popular Dyson Airwrap Styler has taken the beauty community by storm, and you likely know that this all-in-one styling tool is not the most affordable investment. But, just because you don’t want to break the bank doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice a gorgeous-looking blowout! Our stylists at the Z Hair Academy cosmetology school in Kansas City, Kansas, have experience providing clients with beautiful blowouts and know how to achieve the same Dyson blowout with heatless curlers. Learn more as they share their tips below!
Velcro rollers work on both damp and dry hair, so it’s up to you which way you would like to proceed with your blowout. Whichever method you choose, make sure to detangle your hair with a paddle brush and prep it with some product to create an easier hold. Opt for a volumizing formula like the JoiFull Volumizing Styler, and be generous when adding the product to your hair!
Next, rough-dry your hair by flipping your head upside down to build some added volume. Dry all sides of your hair, not just the front pieces, running your fingers through your strands as they dry. Once your hair is a little less than halfway dry, flip your hair back on the right side up and dry the sides for a couple of minutes.
Once your hair is more than half dry, use a round brush to smooth strands and add some volume. Make small sections of hair, curl them away from your face using the round brush, and create some light tension to blow-dry. After your hair is fully dry, use your velcro rollers to roll each section of hair up and away from your face to cool. Leave the rollers in for 10 to 30 minutes.
After your curlers have been set, you can shoot your hair with a blast of cool air if you choose, switching to a diffuser attachment on your blowdryer to keep them from falling flat. Gently shake out each section of hair, starting at the root, and use your fingertips to massage your strands from the scalp. Use a texturizing spray to create a more lived-in look!
