With over 22 years in the cosmetology industry and a decade dedicated to teaching, Lisa Ryder is a seasoned professional who has found true fulfillment in education. From her career beginnings in a fast-paced, family-oriented salon in Olathe, Kansas, to transitioning to a high-end salon in Overland Park, her expertise has grown over time. Eventually, she transitioned into education and pursued her Educator’s License after a salon owner recognized her natural ability to mentor new stylists.
Throughout her career, Lisa has achieved many notable accomplishments, including styling a Rockfest performer, having work featured in a notable Kansas City magazine, and earning multiple certifications, such as her Milady Master Educator and Brazilian Blowout Certification. Her dedication was also recognized with the Z Hair Academy Impact Award in 2023!
As an educator, she emphasizes the importance of communication, customer service, and creating a welcoming learning environment. By engaging students in fun, curriculum-driven activities, she fosters both technical and personal growth. One of Lisa’s most memorable teaching moments was when a student’s work was recognized by Patrick Mahomes on social media, drawing media attention to the school. Many of her former students have even gone on to own salons, become educators, or return as mentors to new students—demonstrating the lasting impact of Lisa’s guidance!
